Frances Louise Duchesne Oliveaux, age 90, of Hebert, LA passed away Aug. 3, 2025, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, La.
She was born Dec. 16, 1934 in Hebert, LA, to Clarence "Son" and Emma Gorton Duchesne. Frances, a Hebert native, attended Mangham High School and later married Ellie Oliveaux on Dec. 22, 1954.She worked at Oliveaux Grocery for many years with her husband, then later worked as a kitchen supervisor at the Haven Nursing Center and worked as a caretaker.
In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, and watching soap operas.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three siblings, Clarence Jr., Edward and Jerome Duchesn and three infant children.
Survivors include two sons, Dannie Oliveaux and wife, Gail, of Lumberton, TX; and Donald Oliveaux and wife, Marybeth, of Hebert, LA; and one daughter, Tere Russell and husband, Eddie, of Hebert, LA; two granddaughters, Amanda Steortz, and husband, John, of Alexandria, LA and Reva Exline, and her husband, William “Bull”, of Columbia, LA; five great-grandchildren, Ellie Steortz, Wyatt Steortz, Emma Kerrigan Hardy, Brennan Hardy and Brooklyn Exline; one step-granddaughter, Renata Teaster, of Tennessee; one great-great granddaughter, Olivia Downs; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at Welcome Home Baptist Church in Hebert, LA, with Rev. Anthony Stewart officiating, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation is 12-2 p.m. Burial will follow at Etier Cemetery in Hebert, LA.
Pallbearers are John Steortz, William “Bull” Exline, Wyatt Steortz, Brennan Hardy, Ellie Steortz, Emma Kerrigan Hardy, Brooklyn Exline and Olivia Downs.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Walker, Dub Weed, Blaine Cobb and Darryl Cruse.
We would like to thank the staff of the Haven Nursing Center for the many years of excellent care and love they showed to our mom. They made this home for her. We would also like to thank Ascend Hospice for keeping her comfortable in her final days. Also, Citizens Medical Center for their care.
