Felton Jeter was born May 31, 1927 in Winn Parish, to the union of his parents Benjamin Jeter and Laura Bruce Jeter and passed from this life February 10, 2024 at Rapides Regional Hospital. Felton was always a hard worker and today we will honor and remember the God fearing and good man he was. At the age of sixty, he met and married Joyce Shelton Blazier. They were soulmates from the beginning and shared thirty-six wonderful years together. Felton lived a full life. After graduating high school he went on to graduate from a mechanical trade school in Shreveport. Felton proudly joined his brother Edgar as a merchant mariner as he sailed around the world three and a half times. He kept a diary of each port they entered and what they were delivering or picking up. At the age of twenty six he was drafted in to the Army and was sent to the Korean War. During one of his many missions there, one day his platoon was sent out and only he and one other soldier returned. During that mission he was wounded. Felton received a honorable discharge along with a purple heart for his service and bravery. After returning home Felton started his own logging business during which time he and his brother built numerous homes. Years after being in business for himself, he gave it up and started scaling logs at Louisiana Pacific. He did that for twelve years then retired. He then started enjoying life, keeping his garden going, fishing, and catching way more than his share. He could fill up a ice chest with the big ole white perch by himself or with his friends. Joyce loved to eat them as much as he loved catching them. Felton loved his family and enjoyed every moment spent with his kids and grandchildren.

Felton was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Leona Jeter and Perry Jeter; five brothers: Grover, Madison, Benjamin, Elsi, and Edgar Jeter. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty six years, Joyce Jeter; sons, Michael Shelton and Mark Shelton; daughter, Paula Shelton; grandchildren, Heather Shelton, Ashley Falcon, Logan Peppers, Kaden Peppers, Jared Shelton, Josh Shelton; great-grandchildren: Kayson Peppers, Waylon Falcon, and Wyatt Falcon.

Pallbearers will include Logan Peppers, Kaden Peppers, Jared Shelton, Josh Shelton, Eduardo Laureano, and Glynn Black.
