Elmer Leon Etheridge, Jr., age 69 of Olla, was born on December 7, 1956, in La Salle Parish, LA, to the union of his beloved parents, Elmer Leon Etheridge, Sr. and Jerry Lynn McCartney Etheridge. He passed from this life on July 29, 2026, at his residence in Olla following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Leon was a beloved son, brother, uncle "NuNu" and friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Rickey Etheridge; his sister, Cheryl Etheridge Ruddell ; his nephew, Nathan Ruddell (Slayton); his niece, Hannah Ruddell Darden (Slade); great nieces: Annistyn Kate Black, Swayze Paige Ruddell, and Lennon Ann Hines; great-nephew, McCoy Ryan Black, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Leon had built a career in the Oil and Gas Industry and began that career when he was just eighteen years old. He was employed with Ensco. Said career carried him all over the world and his last official title was that of Barge Master. His work ethic could not be measured. He was loved by all who knew him and will forever remain in the hearts of all who did know him .

Pallbearers include Pete Henderson, Stacy Estis, Mike Corley, James Douglas, Gary Wilson and Chris Thompson. Honorary pallbearers include Nathan Ruddell, Larry Estis, Brent Jones and Douglas Hallmark.
Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2026, from the sanctuary of Pinehill Baptist Church with Bro. Lynn Wilson officiating. Bro. Dennis Baker will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Etheridge Family plot at Pinehill Cemetery under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Olla. The family will have a visitation on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Pinehill Baptist Church, Olla, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
