Elizabeth "Lib" McGee Chapman

Ella Elizabeth "Lib" McGee Chapman passed away early on November 8, 2020 at the age of 89. On January 25, 1931 in Grayson, LA, she was born the youngest daughter to Joseph McGee and Emma Powell McGee. At fifteen she met the love of her life, Cedric D. Chapman, who would later become her husband of sixty-six and a half years. She worked for the Louisiana Power and Light Company, Columbia, LA until she became a mother. Then, she relished her role as a homemaker enjoying entertaining and cooking for family, Sunday School members, and friends at a variety of social gatherings. She especially enjoyed decorating for and celebrating Christmas. Family meant an incredible amount to her; even in the last week of her life she enjoyed hearing from nephews, nieces, and other family members. She loved each and every one and they loved her. Many have called her their best friend. Her favorite pastime was conversations with her granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dan McGee, John McGee, Robert McGee and Harry McGee, and her sister and best friend Frances McGee Roark. She is survived by her loving husband Cedric D. Chapman, daughter Catherine Kent and husband Eric of Pineville, LA, granddaughters Danielle Kent and Rebekah Kent, and many dear nieces and nephews. On Wednesday, November 11, 2020 both the visitation (1:00pm) and service (2:00pm) officiated by Dan Chapman will be graveside at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia, LA. The family asks to please remember social distancing and masks.
