Edna Jacobs Tingle

Funeral services for Mrs. Tingle will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 20, 2023 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Columbia. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. The family will have a visitation prior to the service beginning at noon at the church.

Edna Jacobs Tingle was born June 25, 1927, in Shelby County, Texas to the union of her parents, Coleman Nathaniel Jacobs and Alice Eddins Jacobs, and she passed from this life May 17, 2023, at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 95. Edna grew up in Center, Texas and was one of eight children. After high school, she met and married the love of her life, Judson Tingle. After a few years in Texas, they moved to Columbia, Louisiana where they raised their daughter, Jane. Edna worked for John McKeithen for many years including the time while he served as Governor.  She will always be remembered for her graciousness and kindness to everyone she met. She was an intelligent lady with a mind for business and was very successful in her own right. Edna was known for her impeccable style but the most beautiful thing she ever wore was her smile.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Judson Tingle; and her seven siblings. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jane Tingle Lambert and husband, James; her beloved grandchildren, Judson Jones and wife, Susan, and Kathryn Jones; her five great-grandchildren she adored: Codi Jones, Myles Jones, Alex Jones, Conner Jones, and Sadie Jones.

Serving as pallbearers will be Judson Jones, Myles Jones, Cole Gill, Harper Wilkins, Scott Meredith, and Gary Richardson.
