Douglas Arthur George

Douglas Arthur George was born on January 18, 1943 and passed away on May 6, 2026.

Douglas was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He retired from Riverwood (Graphic Packaging) where he worked as an electrician for 34 years. After retirement he enjoyed sitting on the back porch and riding his four-wheeler with his beloved dog, Dixie. He loved to drink coffee with Melanie and spend time with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Seymon George and Clara George Courtney; his sister, Florence "Aline" Carter; his brother, Hansford "Buddy" George; and his daughter, Barbara Dianne George.

He is survived by his sisters, Mildred George Carter and Betty Christy (Gary); his children: Donna Thornton, Debbie Fulkerson (Donald), Doug George (Wendy), Daniel "Buddy" George (Jennifer), Daren George (Misty) and Josey George (Andie); his grandchildren: Brandy Thornton, Bo Thornton, Jonathan Rose (Ashley), Kade George (Lauren), Rhett George (Maddlyn), Luke George, Madison George, Gracie George, Carson George and Harmony George; great-grandchildren who he loved dearly: Luna, Colt and Tritt George and a host of others, along with his favorite nephew, Marvin Carter (Aleta).

Serving as pallbearers will be Doug, Buddy, Daren, Josey, Luke and Rhett George. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Carter and Jonah Varner.

Funeral services for Douglas will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2026, from the sanctuary of Fellowship Baptist Church, Columbia, LA. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The family will have a visitation for friends at the church on Monday prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM and ending at 3:00 PM when the service begins.
