The Homegoing Celebration for Doris Elaine Russell will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 18, 2023, from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA with Bro. Craig West officiating and Paul McCoy assisting. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery, Clarks, LA. The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Elaine was born July 8, 1926, at Clarks, LA to the union of her parents, William Erastus Claunch and Margaret Farrand Claunch, and went home to be her Lord on November 13, 2023, at Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hebert E. Russell; her son, Billy Richard Russell; and four brothers. For many years Elaine was a beautician but she also worked at the Council on Aging helping with activities. Her favorite activity there was quilting and many beautiful quilts were made during that time. She was very artistic and creative. She enjoyed ceramics but her real love was painting, which she enjoyed until her vision was too poor to continue. Elaine was known throughout the community for cooking sweets and delivering them to local businesses she frequented. She was a Southern Baptist and was always active in the church she attended. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Danny Glynn Russell (Sue); daughter, Marilyn Russell McCoy (John); her daughter-in-law: Patricia (Patty) Russell; grandchildren: Paul McCoy (Micah), Rachel McCoy Creel (Mike), Brad Russell (Sandy), Ashley Russell Campbell (Dave), Catherine Russell Crossfield (Gary), Karen Russell, William Russell (Chelsea) and Jenna Russell Bellmore (Doug); 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any planned memorials be made to Old Bethel Cemetery Fund, PO Box 1686, Columbia, LA 71418.
The Russell Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Georgia Tucker and staff for all the wonderful love, care and compassion that was shown to Mrs. Russell during her illness, with special thanks to her primary private sitter, Charlotte Harris.
