Funeral services for David Moore will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with interment following at Mt Rose McGee Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
David William Moore was born on June 16, 1971 to the union of his parents, James Michael Moore and Carol Gipson Moore and passed from this life suddenly on April 13, 2024. His early years were spent in the Walker Community in Jackson Parish and in Winnfield, LA. David and his mother moved to Grayson, LA in 1979 where he attended Grayson Elementary School, Caldwell Parish Junior High, and Caldwell High School. He was a member of the band from Junior High until his graduation in 1989. He briefly attended ULM and attended the trade school in Winnsboro, where he was trained in auto cad drafting. He worked at James Standard and Mustang Engineering in Monroe. David and Tracy moved to Natchitoches in 2011 where he worked at Wal-mart. In 2015 he began studying at Bossier Parish Community College and received two associate degrees in Technical Studies in Engineering Graphics and Applied Science in Industrial Technology on December 7, 2018, and he began working at Saber Industries in 2019. David started Civil War reinacting in High School. He attended reinactments in many places over the years. He was able to attend the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. The battle of Pleasant Hill was the place that he attended most often. He was unable to participate in the reinactment this year because of recent back surgery, but he was able to enjoy the reinactment from the camp. He collapsed there and passed away shortly after on April 13, 2024.
David was preceded in death by his father; his beloved grandmother, Alice Moore; great-uncle, Neil Taylor; his grandmother, Hilma Hammett, his grandfather, Frank Gipson; and his step-sister, Carrie LaNae Hodges.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tracy Moore; his mother, Carol Hodges (Lewis); step-mother, Susie Moore and adopted sisters, Genise Shepard and Lan MaGaha; nieces: Keisha Danielle Meredith, Hanna, Cara, and Kinadee Meredith, nephew, Wyatt Meredith; as well as special friends, Robert Tatum and Billy Johnson.
