Funeral services for Dan Edwin Fore, Jr., age 100 of Grayson, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, with Bro. Brent McClure officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Dan Edwin Fore, Jr. was born November 28, 1925, in Holum, Louisiana, to the union of his parents, Dan Fore, Sr. and Oyeda Tingle Fore. He passed from this life on September 1, 2026, at Citizens Medical Center, Columbia, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 59 years, Margie Steen Fore; and his siblings: Bill Fore, Lloyd Fore, Johnnie Fore, and Hazel Fore Millwee.

Dan proudly served his country in the Air Force during World War II, this was while the Air Force was still part of the United States Army. He was a radar operator and flew with the Disposition of War Assets Team at the end of the war. He was the recipient of numerous medals including the Bronze Star. After he left the military and settled into married life with Margie, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, the job he later retired from. Dan was a fine man who was admired by his community. He enjoyed riding horses and training dogs of all types including bird dogs, hog dogs and squirrel dogs. These skills came in handy as he was an avid hunter and used his dogs while hunting. He was a talented woodworker and often built furniture, did wood carvings and also decorated cow horns with his carvings. Dan enjoyed working in his garden or sitting with a good book. He was a good friend to many. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife and daughters and later his grandchildren. Dan lived a long, full life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Karen Grubb of Grayson, Lynn Brown (Kit) of Broken Bow, OK, and Kay Murphy (Mark) of Double Oak,TX; grandchildren, Braden Grubb (Madilyn) and Trysten Murphy; great-grandchild, Camden Grubb, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
