D E Jones

Funeral Services for D. E. Jones will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Beech Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Jones officiating and Pappy Chenevert reading the Eulogy with interment following in Beech Creek Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Beech Creek Baptist Church Saturday, from 10:00 until time of service at 12:00.

D E Jones was born July 5, 1937 in Flat Creek, La to the union of his parents, Joseph Levi Jones Sr and Lottie Idella Faulk Jones, and passed from this life August 10, 2023 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lynn Jones; sisters: Opal Taylor and Jewel Holmes; and a brother, Joseph Levi Jones Jr.

There is a lot to say about D E Jones. "He was born a hundred years too late." He worked in the Oil Field his entire life. He started as a Roustabout and worked until retiring as a Drilling Superintendent. He was a cowboy, cattleman, and a devoted family man. D E loved the Lord and attended church until he no longer could. He was a man of few words, and a very hard worker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Jones Etheridge (Houston), three sons: Russ Jones (Rhonda), Brad Jones (Susan), and Jubal Jones (Christine); brothers: John David Jones (Annie), James Taylor; sisters: Lois Rigdon and Gerline Thurber; his precious grandchildren who meant the world to him: Andy Jones (Christy), Kelli Doughty (Mark), Jared Jones (Magen), Logan Jones (Amanda Kay), Levi Jones (Georgia), Crystal Sonnier, Tori Browning (Josh), Trey Etheridge (Jessica), Dawn Rogers (Bill), Elizabeth Jones, Samuel Jones (Amanda) and Clancy Jones (Cassie),  thirty great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Susie Estes.

Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Jones, Jared Jones, Logan Jones, Levi Jones, Samuel Jones, Parker Sonnier and Canyon Compton. Honorary pallbearer is Clancy Jones.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Steve Barbo, Dr. Randy Head, and the staff at Citizens Medical Center as well as Ascend Hospice for their loving care of our daddy.
