Funeral services for Clarence Steen Stroud , 77 of Columbia will be held 10am Tuesday from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Masters officiating. Entombment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Clarence Steen Stroud was born on January 9, 1932 at Urania, LA , one of four children born to the union of his parents ,Clarence N. Stroud and Lena Bell (Steen ) Stroud. After a courageous seven month battle with cancer Steen passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday August 22, 2009 at Cornerstone Medical Center in West Monroe. Steen graduated from Olla Standard High School and after graduation; Steen enlisted into the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War serving with an air-sea rescue unit where he was an Air Force Tail Gunner. After serving in the Air Force Steen returned home and went to work in the oilfield and married; as Steen called her the most unique lady he had ever met, Gloria Jean Ford-Stroud on March 11th, 1962. They were married 33 years until her untimely death on August 15th, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Beulah Jean Taylor and his brother Aaron Eugene Stroud. Steen and Gloria had two sons Randy D. Stroud and Jason Matthew Stroud and two grandsons Jesse Douglas Stroud and Derek Joshua Stroud .He also is survived by a sister Sarah Lou Monk. Steen loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work around his home as well as spending time with his family and friends. Steen will always be remembered with his Golden Retriever Jake riding by his side no matter where he went. Steen touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the very end. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Masters, Hershel Volentine, Brandon Waggoner, Gary Hough, and Scott Meredith.
