C.L. was born May 11, 1937, at Columbia, LA to the union of his parents, Willie Freeman Stamper and Eula Ella Williams Stamper, and he passed from this life March 27, 2022, at his home in Grayson, LA after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katherine Whitehead Stamper; grandson, Tyler Lane Stamper; brothers: J.W. Stamper, Clifford Stamper, Wilbur Lee Stamper, and W.O. Stamper; and his niece, Theresa Thornton.

After graduating from high school, C.L. moved to California and worked in the redwood forest. While he was there, he played on a baseball team as the pitcher, throwing a very fast pitch. He eventually returned home to Louisiana and went to work for his uncle, Jack Williams. He soon started his own logging company that he owned and operated for over 57 years. He also owned a sawmill. After he retired he would still work different places running equipment. A true Southern outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. In the 70's he and his brothers made an annual trip to hunt pheasant. They later moved on to elk hunting in Colorado. Regardless of what game they were after, they enjoyed their time together. He later bought a camp on Black Bayou, where he spent most of his time fishing. He also enjoyed running hoop nets. When he wasn't working, hunting or fishing, he loved to garden and share the bounty with family and friends. C.L. found the Lord and was a Christian. He enjoyed going to church and socializing with his friends. As he got older he liked to ride around in his golfcart with his dog, Heidi, who was a wonderful companion. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who loved his family and who had the hardest work ethic of anybody around.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Yoland Mayo (Cody) and Tammy Cruse; sons: Terry Stamper, Gary Stamper, Ronnie Glenn DeMoss, and Shannon DeMoss (Stacy); sisters: Evelyn Berry (Alvin), Joyce Washer, and Bonnie White (Miller); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
