Carey Etier was born September 3, 1938, in Richland Parish to the union of his parents, Will Etier and Emma Roberts Etier, and he passed from this life to his eternal home in Jesus' arms on May 7, 2024. He was an active member of Start Baptist Church, Start, Louisiana. After high school, Carey enlisted in the Army and served our country in Germany on an Armored Tank Brigade Combat Team. After returning home he worked for Columbian Chemical of Monroe until the company transferred to Marietta, GA and he went with them. He worked there for a total of 37 years, retiring in 2003. Carey moved home to Hebert and after 5 years of honey-dos, he went to work with the Sheriff's Office as a jailer. He adored his co-workers at both places of employment. Carey enjoyed grooming his lawn and getting wood ready for those warm enjoyable fires in winter. He enjoyed visiting with friends from Georgia to Louisiana and he loved making his home happy. He will be remembered for his quiet and gentle personality. Carey was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: George Etier, Herbert Etier, Waymon Etier, Frank Etier, and James Etier; sisters: Nellie Ledbetter, Effie Zeagler, Margie Poole, Betty Sue Etier, and Anna Laura Eves.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 26 years, Joy Blackwell Etier; daughter, Kim Etier of West Monroe; step-children, Deanna Hoffman (Paul) of Georgia and Kevin Murphy of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Chloe Beckham, Dillon Beckham, Tyler Franklin, Noah Hoffman and Logan Hoffman; great-grandchild, Hadassah Rose Franklin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
