Calvin Ray Wyant

Funeral services for Calvin Ray Wyant, age 90 of Columbia, will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2022, from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. The visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Cross Roads Baptist Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Calvin Ray Wyant was born on September 5, 1931, in Columbia, LA to the union of his parents, Henry Denius Wyant and Amy Cassels Wyant, and passed from this life March 20, 2022, peacefully at home. Calvin was preceded by his parents; his loving wife, Shirley Ann Wyant; his sister, Verina McKee; brothers: H.D. Wyant, Archie Wyant, Charlie Wyant, Pleasant Henry Wyant, Earl Wyant, Maloy Wyant, Clyde Wyant, and Benji Wyant. 

Like a true Wyant, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener all his life. If you knew the Wyant bunch, you knew family gatherings were loud but loved events. Calvin loved to run track. He ran track in high school, college, and in the military. Calvin was a hard worker, where he worked various places and had lots of different jobs. He proudly served  the United States Army in the Korean War. Calvin retired from the Corp of Engineers as a lock operator after twenty-eight years. Those left to cherish his memory are his four sons: Tony Wyant (Becky), Steve Wyant (Lisa), Jeff Wyant, and Bill Wyant; grandchildren: Joseph Wyant (Jennifer), Brittany Wyant, Gary Wyant, Steven Garza Wyant (Ashley), Chris Wyant (Sonni), Dustin Wyant (Brittney), Sarah Graham (Johnathon), and Amy Wyant (Tina); his great-grandchildren: Rylie Wyant, Jacob Garza, Christopher Garza, Makailynn Garza, Lane Wyant, Kayleigh Beckley, Hayden Wyant, A.J. Wyant, Cohen Wyant, Emoree Graham, Hartley Graham, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Wyant, Gary Wyant, Joseph Wyant, Lane Wyant, Michael Joe Bates, and Johnathon Graham.  Honorary pallbearers are Chris Wyant, Joe Carroll, and Steven Garza Wyant.
