Calvin Ray Nugent

Funeral services for Calvin Nugent will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Jeff Masters officiating with interment following at Welcome Home Cemetery, under direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riser.

Calvin Ray Nugent was born on February 3, 1951 in Columbia, Louisiana to the union of his parents, Buddy Nugent and Jewel Baum Nugent and passed from this life peacefully holding his best friend's hand at North Monroe Veteran's Home on January 20, 2024. Calvin was fearless, out spoken, stubborn and hardheaded. He drove faster than Dennis Nugent, loved fast cars, hunting, Nascar Racing, motorcycles, and watching saints football, and westerns. Calvin loved drinking coffee, sitting on the porch, and having a clean yard. He loved his dogs, T.J. and June Bug. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Johnnie Sikes Nugent; sons: Shane Nugent (Kristie), Casey Nugent (Brandi); daughters: Stephanie Knight, Kimberly Allbritton; brothers: Dennis Nugent, Terry Nugent; sisters: Patsy Hart (Ricky), Vickie Darden (Butch), Cindy Nash (Dion); sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends Glenn Belk and Kathy Nugent who was his friend and care giver. The family would like to thank the staff at the West Monroe Veterans Home for their care shown to Calvin while he stayed there. 

Pallbearers will include Shane Nugent, Brandon Nugent, Casey Nugent, Leevi Roberts, Eli Nugent, Bo Banes, and Dolph Darden. Honorary Pallbearers include Dennis Nugent, Terry Nugent, Glenn Belk, and Holden Pardon.
