Brenda Sue Murphy

Funeral services for Brenda Greer Murphy, age 71 of Columbia, Louisiana, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2022, from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Columbia, with Bro. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, LA under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. Prior to the service, the family will host a visitation at the church on Thursday beginning at 11:00 AM and ending at 1:00 PM.

Brenda Sue Greer Murphy was born in Columbia, LA on July 9, 1951, and she passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 5, 2022, at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia, after a lengthy illness. Brenda was member of First Baptist Church of Columbia where she enjoyed keeping the nursery until her health prevented her from attending. She retired from the Caldwell Parish Clerk of Court's Office where she never met a stranger. Brenda was outgoing and always wore a smile for everyone she met. She was a dearly loved member of the community and she will be missed by so many. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald D. Greer; her mother, Barbara Birmingham Wilson; and her grandmother, Frankie May Greer.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jonathan Murphy (Nicole Escalon); sister, Judy Dudley; grandson, Ryan Murphy; nieces: Tammy Duke and Lindsie Brockner; great-nieces: Samantha Duke and Brylie Wilson; and great-nephew, Jackson Wilson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Murphy, Kolby Owens, Chuck Owens, Aaron Morales, Dustin Wyant, and Roy Bailey. Honorary pallbearer is Eugene Dunn.

The family requests any planned memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Columbia.
