Betty Ruth Free Douglas was born August 10, 1936 in Archibald, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Carl Ellis Free, Sr. and Rona Bradshaw Free. She departed this life for her heavenly home on August 20, 2021, just days after her 85th birthday. Betty was a member of Pine Grove Apostolic Church in Kelly, LA. She worked all her life having owned and operated several businesses in Olla for over 40 years. Betty loved her family and loved taking care of her husband. She adored her grandchildren and spent most of her time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eual Douglas, Sr.; her brothers: Carl Free, Jr., Eugene Free, Bobby Free; and sister, Virgie Free McNease.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Eual “Hollywood” Douglas, Jr., Charles Boyd Douglas (Tonda), and Rodney Douglas, all of Olla; sisters: Patricia Free Warren of Mangham and Helen Free Austin of Eros; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will have a visitation for friends from noon until 1:30 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Olla Chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Olla, LA. Due to the threat of Covid, a private funeral service for family only will be held later.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerrod Douglas, Steven Douglas, Trey Douglas, Tom Douglas, Mitch Douglas, and Jake Long.
