Funeral services for Annie Marie Chapman Griffin, age 90 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, March 27, 2022, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, LA with her brother-in-law, Bro. Denver McBroom officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, LA. The family will have a visitation at the funeral home prior to the service on Sunday, from noon to 2 PM.
Annie was born on January 13, 1932, in Columbia, LA to the union of her parents, Claude Lively and Katie Harveston Lively, and passed into enternal rest on March 25, 2022 surrounded by her family at Citizens Medical Center after a brief illness.
She graduated from Columbia High School and was a lifelong member of Sandy Bayou Baptist Church. Annie enjoyed visiting with her family and friends immensely. She was always gardening, cooking, canning, and sharing the fruits of her labor with those around her. She welcomed anyone for a cup of coffee and a visit. She took joy in being involved in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Melvin Earl Chapman, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her sons Alton Chapman (LaNae) and Kirby Chapman, her husband, Bennie Griffin; her sister, Myrtle McBroom (Denver); her brother Elmer Lively; her six grandchildren: Christy Tate (Robbie), Amanda Burgess (Greg), Dusty Chapman (Roxanne), Kenneth Chapman (Jennifer), Keith Chapman (Luisa), Daniel Chapman, and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Robbie Tate, Kenneth Chapman, Keith Chapman, Daniel Chapman, Kayden Chapman, and Danny Lively. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Lively, Buddy James, Dusty Chapman, and Greg Burgess.
