Andy Calvin Gibson, known at "Stubby" by his friends, was born in Columbia, LA, on July 16, 1944, to the union of his parents, Calvin Marvin Gibson and Fannie Mae Clark Gibson. He passed from this life at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA, on August 9, 2026. Andy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Stubby was always a hard worker who believed in doing things right the first time. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and welder. He was a true Southern man who enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was duck hunting or just watching animals in their natural habitat. His love for his family was immeasurable. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. He spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren, teaching them life lessons that will never be forgotten. He was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dellie "Hoss" Gibson and Julius "Hoot" Gibson; and his sister, Dolores Holmes. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 59 years, Sue Barnhill Gibson; his son, Marvin "Rip" Gibson (Daphne); grandsons, Hunter Gibson and Gunner Gibson; his adopted grandson, Otis; his step-grandchildren: Dwayne, Jessica, and Brooklyn; five great-grandchildren; and many other family members and dear friends whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.
Andy always liked to say "True Love Never Dies" and he proved it in the way he loved those around him.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Barnhill, Dexton Knighten, Daryl Knighten, Dawson Veuleman, Andy "Boots" Gibson, and Daniel Patten. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Barnhill and Luther Ray Stapleton.
