Alice Sue Crum
Laswell
Jul 24, 1949 — Jun 5, 2026
Urania, LA
Alice Sue (Crum) Laswell was born on July 24, 1949, in Modesto, California, to Joe Crum and Erma Ilene (Schutte) Crum. She passed from this life on June 5, 2026, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, Louisiana, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Crum; her mother, Erma Crum; and her sister, Wanda Lowe.
The greatest gift Alice received in life was becoming a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Alice shared a faithful relationship with Jesus for more than 50 years and openly shared that love with everyone around her. She faithfully served alongside her husband during his years as a Hospital Chaplain, ministering to and comforting countless people through difficult times.
Alice had a deep love for travel that carried her all around the world. Throughout her life she lived in California, Las Vegas (before it was crazy, as she would say), Colorado, Arizona, and finally Louisiana, where she moved to be closer to her new great-grandson. She visited nearly every state in the United States and was always ready for a road trip. Her travel companions knew that any travel day meant waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning so they could “hit the road early.”
Alice loved surprising the people she cared about, whether by unexpectedly stopping in for a visit or giving a thoughtful gift. She never met a stranger and treasured time spent with family and friends.
When she was not traveling, Alice enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, motorcycle riding, bowling, and golfing. In fact, she proudly scored a hole-in-one during her golfing years. She also loved to play cards and dominoes, and she would not go easy on you, no matter who you were.
Alice attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she excelled in athletics. She became a semi-professional softball player and held the highest batting average on her team. She was equally talented in bowling, where she also maintained the highest average on her team. In every area of life, Alice pursued excellence, but her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of fifty-six and a half years, Clifford Laswell; her son, Wade Laswell and daughter, Jodie Nicole Schwening and husband Jordan; and her stepson, Allan Laswell. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Alyson Douglas (Tom), Laci Moore, and Brittney Laswell, and one great-grandchild, Bodie Gene Douglas.
Alice was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
In honoring Alice’s wishes, the Laswell family has chosen cremation. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
